Logan Shoals Vista Point Elopement | Jaime & Cody

A Logan Shoals Vista Point elopement is perfect for couples who want lake views and easy access to get there. Located on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, this spot delivers sweeping views without the need for hiking. For Jaime and Cody, it was the perfect ceremony location—especially with their golden retriever, Hazel, by their side.

Logan Shoals Vista Point Elopement – Getting Ready

From start to finish, Jaime and Cody’s day was laid-back—with space to breathe, take in the views, and soak up every moment without any rush.

We kicked things off in Truckee at their cabin, where they got ready together. No first look—just slow, quiet moments as they helped each other prep for the day. Hazel popped in and out of the room (very aware she was part of something big), and the energy stayed calm and intentional.

Then, we drove to Logan Shoals Vista Point—one of my go-to Lake Tahoe ceremony spots with view!. No hiking required, just an epic overlook with dramatic cliffs and endless lake views. It’s the kind of place where the light always seems to hit just right. Their Logan Shoals Vista Point elopement was short, sweet, and full of love.

After a few quick family photos, we explored the overlook for couple portraits. We even hiked down a little closer to the water to get some epic cliffside shots. If you’re dreaming of a Logan Shoals Vista Point elopement, this spot never disappoints.

After Logan Shoals Vista Point…

Next up: a muchneeded food break at Jason’s Beachside Grille—a dog-friendly favorite in Kings Beach. Jaime and Cody refueled, Hazel enjoyed the sunshine, and the whole break felt like a little breath of fresh air. Then it was time to begin the second half of the day!

Time to head back to Truckee…

After lunch, we grabbed a few extra lakeside portraits at Kings Beach before heading back toward Truckee. On the way, we made a spontaneous stop at a park in Truckee. The light was too good to pass up, and the open space gave us a different feel for their photos.

That’s the beauty of how I plan things—since I always build elopement timelines with extra breathing room, these unplanned little stops can totally happen! Spontaneous stops often lead to some of the most epic, unexpected shots of the day. Honestly, it’s part of the fun!

We stopped at Donner Lake

Then we made our way to Donner Lake for some quiet dockside portraits. The light was soft and even, and the lake was calm—perfect for a little breather and some intimate moments. Hazel stayed in the car for this one (the couple knew she’d go straight into the water!), so it was just the two of them soaking in the stillness before sunset.

It was Time to Start Heading to Donner Summit

After the dock, we took Old Highway 40 up toward the summit, winding our way through the mountains. Partway up, we pulled off for another spontaneous stop at a roadside waterfall. Totally unplanned—and totally worth it. Then we stopped again to capture some incredible shots next to massive boulders and granite walls.

And yes—we even made it to snow! There was still a layer tucked up along the summit, so we leaned into it and snapped a few final snowy shots before sunset hit.

As golden hour hit, we reached Donner Summit. Between Rainbow Bridge in the background and snow dusted across the peaks, the whole scene felt surreal. Jaime and Cody’s Logan Shoals Vista Point elopement ended with sweeping views and soft evening light—everything they hoped for, and more.

As we headed out, Hazel was all about the snow—zooming around and living her best life at Donner Summit. They wrapped up the night with dinner at Stella’s surrounded by family, and I left with a full memory card and an even fuller heart.

This is why I love what I do—helping couples create a day that feels completely and unapologetically like them.
