Lake Tahoe Forest Elopement Inspiration and The Best Spots

If a forest elopement surrounded by towering pines and filtered light sounds like your kind of day, Lake Tahoe delivers some magical options. While the lake views get a lot of love, the forested areas around Tahoe offer a totally different kind of beauty. Peaceful, grounding, and full of that cozy, intimate feeling.

Here are a few of my favorite forest elopement locations in the Tahoe area:

1. Tahoe Meadows (Incline Village side)

Tucked off Mt. Rose Highway, this spot gives you wide open meadows surrounded by tall trees and there’s even a boardwalk trail. It’s especially stunning in fall when the grasses turn golden. Bonus: it’s easy to access and doesn’t require much walking.

2. Sugar Pine Point State Park

This location has it all, tall old-growth pines, filtered light, and trails that lead to the lakeshore if you want water vibes. It stays fairly quiet, especially in the mornings, and offers great variety for photos.

3. South Lake Tahoe Trails (near Fallen Leaf Lake)

There are multiple trails in this area that wind through dense forest and open up to little clearings. It’s low-key, romantic, and feels like your own private woodland escape.

4. Spooner Lake / North Canyon Trail

Not far from Sand Harbor, but way less busy, this area has aspen groves, pine-lined trails, and beautiful soft light in the late afternoon. It’s especially pretty in early summer or fall.
