Are you looking for your perfect Yosemite Elopement location? There are so many locations in Yosemite for your dream elopement, but one spot that is overlooked is Mirror Lake. Even for the couples that aren’t huge on hiking, this is an easy hike and totally worth it!
Mirror Lake is a small, seasonal body of water located in Yosemite Valley. This little gem of a lake is known for its stunning reflections of the surrounding granite cliffs, particularly Mount Watkins and Half Dome. Mirror Lake has dreamy reflections, even when the water is low. But when the water level is high (typically in spring and early summer), the lake creates mirror-like reflections of the towering granite cliffs, making it a popular spot for photography, the mirror is much larger!

As mentioned, Spring brings higher water levels which means an even bigger mirror. Scroll to see the photos of this Yosemite elopement location. These photos were taken in December, so you can see how low the water level is! Where the couple had their elopement is normally underwater in the early Spring as the snow melts off. I’ve visited Mirror Lake during all seasons, there is always a little bit of water to get a reflection from, but the jaw-dropping reflections happen in the Spring.
What time of day should we Elope at Mirror Lake?
This Yosemite elopement location should be utilized when the lighting is soft. If you want those reflection shots, the best time to visit Mirror Lake is when the location DOES NOT have direct sunlight. Less light (clouds make it even better!) is ideal when trying to create those reflection photos. The photos below were taken in December, we arrived at Mirror Lake at 3:30pm and the sun had already gone behind the rock, it was perfect!
