A glimpse into a South Lake Tahoe Micro Wedding. Amber and Ben celebrated their special day with a beautiful backyard summer wedding at their home in South Lake Tahoe, California. Since it was an August wedding, there was a chance of some mountain rain and thunderstorms, but that just added to the excitement of the day! I just love backyard weddings, especially when they bring elegance and romance vibes, like this one did!
A little bit more about Amber and Ben..
The couple moved to South Lake Tahoe from the Bay Area, therefore they wanted to celebrate their love in their new home. What a perfect housewarming I must say! Honestly though, Lake Tahoe is the perfect spot to relocate to, who wouldn’t want to? Amber and Ben love the outdoors and are into bouldering which is part of the reason they choose Tahoe to begin their life together. Ben even made a rock climbing wall in their new home in the garage. How cool is that!? Of course, we had to get photos of the bride and groom doing just that, rock climbing!

Their wedding day began with the couple hanging out in their home as guests arrived until it was time to get ready. No stress and CHILL VIBES was the goal. Then, Amber got ready and threw on her gorgeous dress by V. Chapman and I snapped some detail shots while I waited. I just loved the “non-traditional” vibe of Amber’s dress, it was fun, flirty, and gorgeous! Let’s not forget Ben, he looked sharp in his suit by Indochino.

South Lake Tahoe Backyard Wedding summer vibes..
The vibe was for guests to sit at the reception tables to watch the ceremony vs. rows of chairs. When space is limited, you get creative, and do what you can. The table and outdoor reception decor was gorgeous. House of Rummage did an amazing job with decorating and I loved those bright, colorful drinking glasses she had!
After the ceremony, the caterers brought lunch which was delicious Mexican food, my fav! No traditional wedding stuff, like first dances and such. Weddings that are mainly candid will give you LOTS of candid photos. After lunch, it was time for golden hour photos, so we drove to a spot down the street from their house while their guests hung back.
And yes, Mother Nature reminded us she is always controlling the shots and shed some sprinkles on us. It was too bad, but we all huddled up under the tents for a few minutes! Such a beautiful, fun, and memorable wedding day for Amber and Ben.

Wedding Tents for backyard summer wedding?
The answer for wedding tents is always yes! If you are having an outdoor wedding, doesn’t matter which season, I would highly recommend tents for rain OR sunshine. You’ll want your guests to be able to escape the elements if need be, especially if it rains!
