Yosemite Wedding Permit Information

If you’re dreaming of saying “I do” surrounded by granite cliffs, towering pines, and the magic of Yosemite National Park, there’s one important step you can’t skip—securing your Yosemite wedding permit.

Yosemite National Park requires a special use permit for all weddings and elopements, no matter how small the celebration. Whether it’s just the two of you or a small group of loved ones, you’ll need to apply for a Yosemite wedding permit to legally hold your ceremony inside the park.

How to Apply for your Yosemite Wedding Permit

To apply, you’ll need to submit a Special Use Permit application through the National Park Service. The current non-refundable fee is $150. You should apply at least 21 days in advance, but I always recommend doing it as early as possible—especially if you have your heart set on a popular location or peak season date.

Ceremony Locations

Yosemite has designated ceremony sites throughout the park. Some favorites include Glacier Point, Taft Point (with limitations), Tunnel View, Bridalveil Fall, and the Yosemite Valley Chapel. Group size and accessibility vary by location, so make sure you review those details before choosing. Keep in mind that some areas have seasonal closures due to snow or trail conditions.

Permit Limitations

It’s important to note that your Yosemite wedding permit does not grant exclusive use of the location. Yosemite is a public park, so other visitors may be nearby during your ceremony. Decorations, chairs, arches, and amplified sound are typically not allowed—but trust me, the natural beauty speaks for itself.

Pro Tips

  • Leave No Trace is a must! The park has strict rules to preserve its beauty.
  • Choose sunrise or sunset for softer lighting and fewer crowds.
  • Work with a photographer who knows the park well and can guide you through the process (hi, that’s me!).

Your Lake Tahoe Elopement Photographer. I’m the kind of photographer who’ll help you plan your day, cheer you on, fix your dress, and probably tear up behind the camera. Your elopement should feel fun, real, and like you actually get to enjoy it.

I want to get to know what lights you two up, what makes your connection yours, and help create an elopement day that feels like it was made just for you.

Some of my favorite Lake Tahoe elopement spots include Sand Harbor, Logan Shoals Vista Point, and Hidden Beach.
